Retirement planning should start as soon as possible.  Many times, though, younger workers just can't seem to make time for retirement planning.  The reality is that the sooner you start the more money you will have when retirement comes.  Sometimes it is hard to think about tomorrow, though and many young workers get caught up with today's problems.  Fortunately, many employers offer retirement accounts, most commonly in the form of a 401K. An employee elects to give a certain amount from every paycheck to put in their 401K.  The money comes out before taxes and usually the employee doesn't even notice it is gone. 

Any start is a good start when it comes to retirement planning.  The whole idea is simply to start putting money aside so you will something to live off once you retire, but money isn't all of it.  Your retirement plan will help you figure out where you will live, what type of insurance you will have and what general lifestyle you will enjoy once you retire.
